A relative dropped off fourteen-year-old friends Angela Rader and Tammy Akers at school in Roanoke, Virginia the morning of February 7, 1977, and neither were ever seen again. The friends were known to “play hooky” in the past, but this time, they didn’t return home. Earl Bramblett, a 34-year-old screen printer, immediately became a suspect because Tammy Akers had helped out around his shop. Eyewitnesses also claimed Earl was distraught after the girls’ disappearance and confessed to hurting Tammy, though he was never prosecuted. Years later, he was convicted and sentenced to death for murdering four members of the Hodges family in Vinton, Virginia. To this day, no one knows what happened to Angela Rader and Tammy Akers. If living, they would be 60 years old. If you have any information about their disappearance, please contact the Roanoke City Police Department at 540-853-2212.
