The oldest remaining house in Richmond was likely built in 1737 by a man named Jacob Edge. It was preserved and restored by the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities in 1912. This humble brick house has been home to the Edgar Allan Poe shrine, now known as the Edgar Allan Poe Museum, since 1924.
